Cannot find niivi folder under VXIpnp\WinXX in order to get "IVI instruments"-folder in MAX. What´s wrong?

I want to contol an LeCroy oszilloscope with labview 7.0. There is only a driver for labview 5 available, but LeCroy suggested me to try a IVI driver for a similar instrument. In the block diagram I selected I/O instruments->IVI class drivers->oszilloscope->IVIscope Initialize. However, I need a logical name and I wanted to get this from MAX, but I have no access to an "IVI instruments"-folder. I am very new in this field. Can you please help me?

The first thing to do is to verify that you installed IVI from the drivers CD. In MAX, under the software heading, you should see both an IVI Driver Toolset and IVI Engine selection. The full installation will also create an IVI Drivers section with some Logical Names such as SampleScope, SampleDMM, etc. If the IVI driver for the LeCroy is correctly installed, you should also see a Driver Session for it. If none of this is visible try installing IVI support.

You could also try the LabVIEW driver. A version 5 driver should run without any problems and you'll at least have source code if you need any modifications.

I had the same problem using NI-VISA 4.5.  When I upgraded to NI-VISA 4.6, the IVI Drivers item appeared in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).
