Cannot fully remove evaluation version

After installing Labview 7.0 evaluation version I cannot install a full copy of Labview 7.0 even after I uninstall the evaluation version. I keep getting a message saying that a evaluation version has been detected and it tells me to remove it. I did remove it but I keep getting that message..

Difficulties with uninstalling Labview seem to surface on a a fairly regular basis. There is a program msiblast.exe that others report can help with extracting tentacles that have wriggled deep into your operating system, see

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=211881&query.id=261573#M211881

I once uninstalled a troublesome installation by using "change" and not the more obvious "delete."

Seems to me NI should put up a guide to uninstalling recalcitrant Labview installations. And they should make it easy to find.

Thank you contacting National Instruments. I apologize for the fact that you have been experiencing difficulties during the uninstallation/reinstallation of our LabVIEW software. Sometimes, uninstalling programs from the Add/Remove interface does not remove all components associated with the program, which explains why it may impossible to reinstall another program afterwards. MSIBlast is a utility that displays all MSI (Microsoft Installer) files and allows them to be removed from the system. MSIBlast must always be used after going through the normal process of uninstalling software (Add/Remove Programs Interface). You can download the utility on this thread. I hope this helps and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

My question to that has always been.....why? Find the root cause and kill it.

gwd,

I had to go into the windows registry and delete any ref to Labview 7.0 evauluation version.  Thank God it was only in one location.  After I did that everything worked out ok.

Thanks for your help.

Rudy,

Thanks for the info on msi blast. I did got through the normal proceedure of uninstalling LV 7.0 evauluation version (add remove programs). I took a chance and went into windows registry and I was lucky that there was only one location where 7.0 eval was mentioned. I deleted it and I was fine. I had this problem once before (when 7.0 first came out) and the full install (including dsc) could not be removed conventionally. In those days I had to reformat and reinstall windows then I was able to move forward. After 7.1 I noticed that NI had a better uninstall feature.

Thanks Rudy,

Roy
