Changing ring control pull-down backdrop

Attached is a jpg. on the typical ring control.  Is there anyway to change the pull-down backdrop that lists all items within the ring control?  Such as changing the default tan/gray color, or changing the bevel depth of the drop-down?  I couldn't find any access via the customization screen.

If you use a system ring instead of a standard one, you will probably be able to change some of these things through the operating system's display settings.

That said, it's probably easier to just build your own. You can simply have a VI which will look whichever way you want and then pop it up where the user clicks. You can change the VI settings so that it doesn't look like a separate window.
