Hi, I hope you all found a copy of the manual.
I first discovered this topic but being a bit frustrated not to find a full document of reference, I asked the Bruker company (they acquired CHROMEX in 2004) for a copy of the user manual, which they pleasantly sent. They allowed me to share it, so i post it here in case it helps someone, also for a better web referencing of the model.
The manual is to be used with the following models/versions :
250is IMAGING SPECTROGRAPH
250sm SCANNING MONOCHROMATOR
250is/sm SPECTROGRAPH/MONOCHROMATOR
500is IMAGING SPECTROGRAPH
500sm SCANNING MONOCHROMATOR
500is/sm SPECTROGRAPH/MONOCHROMATOR
Now, it is time to fix my own Chromex spectrograph !

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you - trying to fix an old Chromex scanning monochromator. I have it connected to a controller, but when powering on I get Error code 3. the operating manual suggests to turn it off and then back on, and if it still doesn't work to contact User Support (which obviously does not exist anymore!). Error code 3 has to do with the Entrance slit detector. Any idea how to solve this? Can this error be bypassed using the computer controlled GPIB instead of the controller? Thanks!

Hi, I've not been very reactive, I've been away from my spectrometer the last few months. I also faced this "Error 3", but most of the time turning the device off then on worked well. It was quite frustrating at the beginning however. If I remember well, it happened some times when the slit was fully closed, which the controller might understand as a "negative aperture", leading to error 3. Manually opening the slit (carefully) and then restarting the spectrometer may work. Have you tried only sending commands asking for status just after starting the spectrometer ?
