Communcating wth a thermotron 8800 via ethernet

Does anyone have experience communicating with a thermotron 8800 controller via Ethernet?  I am new to labview so please be as detailed as possible.  The goal is to pull thermocouple data from the controller and log it to a host pc.   The thermotron is currently connect to our network (DHCP).  an example vi would be most helpful.  Thanks mic3030

I am not familiar with that specific instrument, but I would certainly recommend using Instrument Drivers for this particular task.  I checked and Thermatron does have some LabVIEW drivers for the 8800, so I would take a look at those and see if they work for you.  If they follow the Instrument Drivers template there should be an example with them.

Thank you for your response.  I went to the Thermotron website and downloaded the drivers for Labview, not the CVI ones.  There was not an example with the drivers.  I am extremely new to labview, can you outline some steps to get started?  Thank you.

Before you start working on your application, I would recommend you to follow the links below to quick learn LabVIEW. It should not take a lot of time. Once you understand the LabVIEW programming environment, then you would be easily able to understand what the Instrument Driver for your hardware is all about.
