Comtrol RocketPort are not seen by NI-MAX

Has anyone had experience with Comtrol RocketPorts?

I know Ben used them in the past, so hopefully he'll read this post.

The problem is that I have to port an application to a station which uses these.  Unfortunately, the ports do not appear in the VISA Resource name, to allow selection. 

ANy idea on how to "quickly" configure these?

I've used quite a few of them too. We have since switched to an 8 port USB->RS-232 but they are in several older testers that I have. I just went back and checked and the version of VISA being used is 2.6 and we are running under Win2k. As far as I can remember, all that needed to be done was to run the device driver CD that cam with the RocketPort and they showed up in MAX. Do they appear there or do they appear when you try to use Hyperterminal?

They do appear with HT or TerraTerm, but they do not appear in MAX.

I hope they still have the installation CD....

Check the "visaconf.ini" file located in

c:\VXIPNP\WinNT\NIVisa

There is a section in there that you should be able to figure out.

Also check the LabVIEW.ini file settings if you have trouble when you get there.

Imagine my surprise when I implemented a solution with a bit too much confidence 😉 and it didn't work because the operator couldn't select the serial port.  I was baffled, then realized something was wrong when MAX didn't show any of the ports.  I never noticed anything special when implemeting serial communication using CVI..  I thought this was a bit strange.

I'll try the solutions next week.  I have yet another project to work on this weekend.
