Configuring FieldPoint IO Point

Can anyone help me configure an FieldPoint IO Point?  I can see my target in MAX, connect running a vi (Find FP-100x Devices (VISA).vi), but still not browes connections using a FieldPoint IO Point control on the front panel.

See attached.

Hello Netwon2this1,

That is an interesting hardware setup you are working with!  I had a few questions I hope you could answer to see if we can come up with a solution.  What version of LabVIEW are you working with?  The error you are showing mentions that the .iak file generated from MAX during configuration has not been supplied to your functions.  Have you located and supplied the path to this .iak file to your functions that allow you to see the connections?  Also, it might be helpful if you could post some screenshots of the code you are working with so we might be able to see how you are going about the programming.  Let us know and we will do everything we can to help!

HI Zach,

Thank you for the reply.  I am using LV2013 to answer your first question.  Yes, part of the problem I was having was trying to configure my application using MAX.  After talking to an Applications Engineer over the phone I realized I needed to find targets and devices (my FP-1000) from the Project Explorer instead.  I was given the Find FP-100x Devices (VISA).vi as a stand alone application from another Applications Engineer last week so I didn't think to use Project Explorer to recognize my FP-1000 - live and learn as they say. 😞  The other part of the problem was that I currently (still) do not have any modules to connect to the FP-1000 so I was unable to use the browse feature of the FP IO Point control.  Once I was able to connect with the FP-1000 I then simulated a module and the FP IO Point control immediately started to work - go figure!  All is well now!  thx again.  John

...also, this is my first attempt to use and build a FieldPoint application.  After I had deployed the FP-1000 from the Project Explorer I was able to connect with and simulate modules for it.

HI Zach,

Actually, I had already set up a service request number - #7395726.  (I needed first to discover the FP-1000 controller using Project Explorer).  I also have an old FieldPoint FP Read.vi that needs to be updated/converted.  Unfortunately, its input is of a different data type than the newer version.  The new version has a FieldPoint IO Point control instead of a cluster/reference?  See attached  Can you help me?  The updated/converted version has to function in the same way.

John

Sorry, the old input is actually a FP refnum in.

I am assuming converting the FP write.vi can be accomplished the same way.  Again, see attached.

Hi John,

Yes, the FP Write.vi and FP Read.vi are set up to use the same inputs.  Your solution should work with this function just the same.  If you run into any further issues, please feel free to give us a call.  It might be quicker to talk with one of our Applications Engineers to get answers.  Have a great day!
