Jeff is a very valuable member of this community, so what if 1 of his posts is a bit off (out of 100? 1000? 10000? who's counting). We've all been there. Keep in mind that his post helped you\us progress in this thread.
He was very decent about it. I didn't see idiot/wrong/unclear being mentioned anywhere. In fact you're the one pointing out he was wrong... He only said he didn't understood, not putting anything on you.
It's not a nice thing to be misunderstood, but please keep in mind that:
+ things get lost in writing or translation (we're not all native English speaking)
+ people make mistakes
+ we're trying to help (in this case for sure)

Maybe you can post the test case that is working, just to:
+ illustrate what you're doing
+ give us a head start when trying to replicate it
If you explain a bit about how your actual situation is different from the test case, we can even speculate about the problem. Without seeing the actual problem, speculate is all we can do...
