Converting older VI's for use in v8.2 and v8.5?

I've run into some older VI's in our company library which were written by people no longer here. When I try to open them in LV 8.5 a dialog message says that they are too old for this version of LV (v8.5). Is there some way I can open, convert, and upgrade these for use with LV 8.5? I'm sure the program algorithms contained within these are useful. It seems that NI should have provided a method for updating them.
