Crane Electronics UTA Rotary Transducer - pco422.doc (0/1)

"I'm trying to get a Crane Electronics UTA Rotary Transducer to talk
to MAX with no luck. This is a steel drive shaft located in low
friction ball bearings. The shaft incorporates a Wheatstone Bridge
strain gauge circuit and precision slip ring assembly rigidly attached
to the input end of the shaft. You can view it at
http://crane-electronics.com, click on Products then Transducers. I'm
using a PCI-1200 DAQ card with a CB-50LP I/O connector block. The
attachment shows the schematic, but I don't know which to connect to
for the power and data. The manual says that I should see +3.250 volts
when turning clockwise, -3.250 volts turning counterclockwise, and
zero torque should be 0v. I think the unit is a floating grou
nd but I
could be wrong. This is my first project as I am learning LabView and
DAQ. Crane Electronics doesn't want to help me other than give me the
schmatic. Can someone give me a hand with this?"

Hello;

This is a issue specificaly regarding Crane Electronics. They must give you more than just schematics. Contact them again and ask for more detailed information on how to connect power and data lines.
