Hi I'm new in labview and now i'm having a task to create a program to measure the path loss. Can anyone give me some ideas for this program? thanks ![]()

First, you will have to explain what you mean by "path loss".
Then figure out what you are trying to do with it. What are you measuring? What kind of DAQ devices or instruments do you need to work with?

thanks for your reply. I have to measure the path loss in a transmission in different frequency range. Is it possible to do without DAQ devices?

LabVIEW can easily communicat with almost any type of test equipment. What test equipment are you currently using to measure it manualy? Search for that model number here on NI's site and you will likely find a LabVIEW driver. Let us know what equipment you have and what your program needs to do and we can assist you.

No.
You are trying to measure a real world phenomenon. That means you are going to need some DAQ device (or some stand alone instrument that can do the job which you can communicate with) in order to measure the real world signals with a PC.
Is this some sort of homework project?

thanks for you reply. Actually i'm not so sure how i'm going to do this project as i'm new in labview.

This is my internship assignment. So I need to find some DAQ device for transmitter? what about the receiver side?

Before you even start thinking about how LabVIEW fits into your project, you need to figure out what your project is. Talk to whoever is supervising your internship. You are putting the cart before the horse trying to figure out how to write a program before you have even figured out what it is you are really trying to do.
We can help you solve LabVIEW questions on this forum. We can't help you figure out your project for you.

My project is path loss calibration test which is to measure the path loss between the transmitter and receiver in a distance 3m and different frequency range. My supervisor asked me to design the program for this test by using labview.

Hi jiaeh,
See the link below. This is one of the best thing for getting started with your assignment.
