Cut copy paste missing from right click menu (Windows)

What is the reason for the standard 'Cut, Copy, Paste' being missing from the right click menu?

I have been using LV since 1999 V5.1 and it's still not appeared or an option to enable disable it from this menu.

My guess is that behind the scenes LV is Mac originated and Mac doesn't have this - LV has a feel of Mac.

I know you can use the keys and top menu for Cut, Copy, Paste but why no standard Windows right click for this??

I have been wondering for so long the real reason!!??

Can a top NI LV R&D based developer please tell me the real reason?

Hi Andy,

The cut copy and paste functionality is not available from LabVIEW because the right-click shortcut menu has been replaced with the functions palette and the controls palette in LabVIEW, which is more appropriate for the LabVIEW environment. You could try suggesting it as a feature for future versions by following this link: http://digital.ni.com/applications/psc.nsf/default?OpenForm&temp1=&node=

Hi alpha1,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I have put this in the suggestion scheme - but you don't get a reply - but they may look at it.

Reading your reply made me realized that I hadn't explain this thoroughly enough.

The cut, copy paste menu functions would only appear when some text was being worked on. I.e.. Some text had been highlighted/selected within a text box with the LabVIEW text tool.

Just as in standard Windows. Say in Internet Explorer if you right click on a none text area of the screen cut, copy isn't there within the menu. If you select some text and right click - it is there.

They may add it someday but 11 years is  long time waiting! Personally I still believe it's a Mac thing preventing this.

Regards

Andy
