DAQ-Assist crashes Labview....

I apologize for the duplicate posts. It looks like there is a problem with the "Preview Post" function.

Matt, thanks for your reply...

To answer your questions:
1) Labview version....first installed 8.0 fresh and then upgraded to 8.0.1
2) The DAQ assistant has behaved this way...though sometimes for no apparent reason it works perfectly
3) DAQMx version is 8.6 (installed fresh as well)

4), 5) & 6) I  have not tried these....
To make sure that the problem is not hardware related (bad memory for example), I will be installing Labview on a new computer (windows XP pro) next week.

Please let me know if there are any steps to the installation that I should follow.
My plan is to install the following (in that order)
Labview 8.0
DAQmx 8.6
NI-VISA (latest version)
(other drivers...)
install the 8.0.1 upgrade

Hello emerino,

Your install order looks good with the following exception:

1. LabVIEW 8.0
2. LabVIEW 8.0.1 upgrade (and mass compile following install)
3. NI-DAQmx 8.6
4. NI-VISA
5. Other drivers...

In general, the drivers should always be installed after all the development environments (LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, LabWindows/CVI) so that support is included for all available versions. The LabVIEW 8.0.1 update should be installed immediately following LabVIEW 8..0 to make sure the correct patches are made and then the drivers can be installed for 8.0.1. Let me know how this turns out or if you have any other questions.

Well....I'm happy to report that I finally ended up installing LV 8.2 and this version didn't present the problem I was having with 8.0 & 8.0.1

I'm curious as to what the problem was...maybe my installation CD was bad...who knows!?

Everything (so far) works good with 8.2
