DAQ Assistant windows is blank

I just installed LabVIEW on a new computer, along with DAQmx, and when I place the DAQ Assistant on a blank vi and select the channel I want to use, or open the assistant on an existing vi, the bulk of the window is blank.  There are icons at the top of the window to add or remove channels and a help icon, but nothing else.  If I click on the help icon, this seems to fix the problem, but with some window scaling issues.  If I resize the window, there are multiple errors in the way it displays the window.  Has anyone seen this problem?  I am using LabVIEW 2009 f3 (32-bit) on Windows 7 (64-bit).

Hi Loki,

I haven’t seen anything like that before. It’s a bit hard to imagine though, can you post back with some screen shots of this behavior?

Thanks for getting back to me.  So, it actually started working properly for a while, then suddenly started glitching again.  I can't figure out a pattern as to when it will and when it won't happen.  I have attached three pictures; one when the assistant is first opened and is blank, one after help is clicked, and one after trying to resize the window.

Another thing ... I first discovered this problem when trying to run a program which was made in LabVIEW 8.5 on a Windows XP machine.  When I tried to run the program in LabVIEW 2009 on my Windows 7 machine, there was an error whenever it got to any of the  DAQ Assistants. This can be fixed by removing, then adding back in, all channels in the assistant window.  I don't know why this fixes the problem, but it seems to work every time.  The device I am using is a PCI-6713 analog output board in case that matters.  Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Loki,

That’s really strange. There’s one thing I’d like to try before uninstalling and reinstalling the DAQmx driver. Please follow the steps in the Knowledgebase below to replace your MAX database.

If this does not fix the issue, I’d recommend you uninstall DAQmx and then reinstall. Let me know how it goes.

Replacing the MAX Database didn't work.  To uninstall DAQmx, do I need to uninstall all three of the programs listed in the MAX (picture attached)?

Hi Loki,

Yes, you can select all three and uninstall and then reinstall the DAQmx driver. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Loki, were you ever able to resolve this problem?  I'm having the same issue.  Any ideas to the solution would be helpful!

Hi Jon,

What version of DAQmx and what operating system are you using? Also what hardware?

Hi Sean, clicking on the help button in the top right corner of the DAQ assistant resets the graphics and allows one to program the DAQ so my problem has been resolved.  Thanks for your speedy reply.  I'm posting the problem below in case anyone is curious or has the same issue.

Hello, I've been writing programs to send analog and digital outputs to 6008 and 6525 DAQs for a couple years.  I've never had any problem with the devices.  I just built some new equipment, and I used Windows 7 as opposed to Vista/XP.  Everything appeared to have operated correctly with LabVIEW 8.5 and NIDAQmx 8.9.x.  The program runs smoothly and I can receive analog input from the 6008 without a problem.

However, I tried used DAQ assistant to generate output for both of the devices.  I add the lines I want but when the DAQ assist opens, it is blank (i.e. I can't the types of signals, voltage, etc).  I thought the problem might have been the driver so I downloaded 9.0.2 and that didn't help.  I can send signals via MAX without a problem, and the end equipment receives the signal.

So in summary, input is fine and I can do what I want from MAX, but I can't operate the equipment through the DAQ assist.
