Defer Panel Updates not working for XY graph

After looking into the behavior that you've discussed in this thread, I have found that this is a known issue in LabVIEW 8.2 that was reported to R&D (42JA9UW4). In the documentation of this corrective action request, it does not offer a more effective workaround than the one you have identified.

I apologize that you have to use this workaround for your application, but I can assure you that this will be corrected in a future version of LabVIEW. Have a great day.

Hi,

I understand this is an old thread, but this issue is still not corrected in LV2014. So I am also using the workaround suggested - to hide the graph, do the operations & then show the graph. Does anyone else have faced the same issue in the recent versions?

Thanks,

Let my magic 8-ball guess.

Despite the thread predating my first post to this forum by two years, the graph is in a Tab container isn't it?

Posting via mobile so y'all know my magic 8-ball isn't cheating.

And, let us see exactly how you are misusing that defer FP updates method;)

Of course!! The graph is in a tab container.

And, I will not be able to move the Graph out of the tab control now. I am updating the Graph only when the Graph page is shown. Any suggestion to defer FP updates for controls in tab control also are appreciated.

For what it is worth, my original problem was cleared up shortly after that, probably in version 8.5.  I have recompiled in version 2014 and the problem didn't return.  Sounds like the problem is in the tab control, my graph is not in one.  Maybe you could defer updates for the tab control as well as the graph.

I'm sorry, that last suggestion I made is garbage.  It is the panel, not the control that is deferred.

Hi, I am deferring the updates, but as per the issue described even after using that the updates are not seemed to be deferred. Though it is visible in other controls, XY graph is the one which is very obvious due to large data it has. So I will need to understand if using tab control is the problem & if so how to workaround it to make ALL controls work as they should with defer FP updates (cannot modify the UI now).

Thanks,

This still seems to be an issue in LV2016. This is happening to my graph even though it isn't inside a tab control. I'm deferring updates but that doesn't stop the graph from painting the cursors and other properties. Has anyone found a workaround?

FWIW I'm updating the graph via a subVI by passing in a reference

Even hiding the graph still causes it to paint the cursors while the rest of the graph is invisible. Do the cursor/plot properties not go through the front panel update process?
