What is your OS and LabVIEW version?

Does the help work if you do "menu...help...search the LabVIEW help".

Does it work if you right-click the icon of a function and select "help".

Have you tried to repair the LabVIEW installation?

There is a known problem with old browser version. What is your version of internet explorer?

It this on all VIs and functions or just certain ones?

Also if you right click on the VI in question and select Help from the menu, does the detailed help open then?

I am using Internet explorer 6.0. and not allowed to upgrade to 7.0.

I have labview 8.6 installed on another machine and it works fine.

Do you have a help directory in your install directory (default C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6)?  If so, does it have several .chm files?

Can you succesfully open the chm file(s) by double-clinking on them there?

It reminds me little bit the situation when I installed LabVIEW for the second time and got scared by the amount of processes running on the background. So I just blocked some of them and since that time I had troubles with help and examples.....it might be your case if some of the processes are blocked....or it might not

When I try to double click on the .chm files I get the following error " cannot open the file:mk:@msitstore:C:\program files\nation instruments\labview 8.6\help\axprop.chm

FYI I upgraded from Labview 8.5.1 via the web download
