Devices and Interfaces does not appear in the Configuration Tree (including under My System) in Measurement and Automation Explorer

On a new installation of LabVIEW 8.6 (30 day evaluation), Devices and Interfaces does not appear in the Configuration Tree (including under My System) in Measurement and Automation Explorer.  This being present is necessary for the first step of the forth exercise (4. Aquire Data.pdf).  Is there something missing that needs installation?

Have you installed DAQmx from the Device Driver CD?

No, I stalled Labview as a download and didn't have a Device Driver CD.
