Dialog After Abort Execution

Hi guys: I'm writing a labview software for physics lab. I'd like this software to pop up a dialog box, that asks the user if he/she wants to save some parameters, after the "abort execution" button, the red stop-sign like button, is pressed. I thought once the red button is pressed, everything will be terminated and no VI would run. So I doubt if it's possible to achieve what I want as described above. Thanks for your help

That is an expected behaviour if you use the abort button to stop your VI

What you could do is design your vi such that you have certain exit conditions to stop the vi and at the end of the condition, you can have a pop up screen ( Block diagram>> functions>> user and dialog interface) with the appropriate options

Hi forestrock,

your users should never see this red button - you can/should hide them in the vi properties.

As said before: make your own "stop" button to be able to take care of any actions before closing the vi!

Ditto Gerd and Dev.

In this thread Ed Dickens ( LabVIEW Champion) said;

....using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

Hi guys: Thank you all for your valuable suggestions. I didn't know there is a difference between "self stopping" and "button stopping". I guess I'll add a stop button myself to stop this VI. 🙂
