Difference Between "project-style" Instrument Drivers?

I was about to download the LabVIEW (duh!) instrument driver for the Agilent/HP 53181A RF Frequency Counter.  There are two drivers available, with one being a newer version.  The older version is here:

The newer version is here, but it is referred as a "project-style" driver:

So besides the new version with dependencies on newer NI software, what's with the "project-style" attribute?

While I am downloading it, first off, it will be written using the LabVIEW project window that is new to LV 8. ... confirmed. 

Other than that, it is pretty well the same.  You can even utilize it without the LV8 project explorer if you like.

It didn't even occur to me that it meant a LV8 project file.  D'oh!  I should have downloaded and examined it first - sorry!
