Difference between NI.LV.Editor application instance and NI.LV.Dialog application instance

I am wondering what is the difference between NI.LV.Editor and NI.LV.dialog application instances. How should I get the application reference for them. I really need help on this one. Thanks in advance!

Can you give some more details?  Perhaps some pictures of these two instances?  I have no idea what you are talking about with a dialog application instance vs. an editor application instance.

Sorry for the unclear explanation.

If you open a VI in Tool menu, LabVIEW opens it in a private application instance called NI.LV.Dialog. However, as I have noticed, some Tools menu VIs are in NI.LV.Editor application instance. I am wondering what is the difference between these two application instances. In addition, I also want to know how to get access to the reference of these two application instances.

Thanks!

Please show some pictures.

I have never seen anything like NI.LV.Editor or NI.LV.Dialog.  How do you know what "instances" they are in?

And when you say "tool menu", are you talking about the "Tools" menu on the LabVIEW menu bar?  And if so, how do you open a VI from there?

As far as I remember, the NI.LV.Editor context is used for Tools VI that lie in <LabVIEW 20xx>/Project folder, and NI.LV.Dialog are the others (I will not discuss the other method of putting items in the Tools menu - just search for Project Provider if you're interested).
