Disk caching is enabled by default. Check out the section entitled "Disabling the Disk Cache" on page 6-5 of the RT user manual to learn how to *disable* it.
If you want to benchmark streaming to disk, use the benchmark template that ships with RT (in the templates folder), or use tick count.
