Do I need a plugin for FPGA?

I'm trying to use a PCI-7811R for basic digital IO. However, I can't seem to get much out of it. I think the following may illustrate the problem. I launch LabVIEW 8.2, click on "find examples" - "Hardware input and output" - "R series" - "basic IO". I then select the project file "Digital Port Output - R Series.lvproj". Under the project tree I get "My Computer", under which the standard "Dependencies", "Build Specifications" and so on appear but I also get a warning symbol next to "FPGA target". The warning says that "the plugin for the selected item is not installed on your system". Do I need to get it from somewhere?
Thanks.

You need the LabVIEW FPGA Module.

Hi Gary,

After you have installed LabVIEW FPGA, please also install NI-RIO 2.3

I think both LabVIEW FPGA and NI-RIO were installed from the CD-ROM that came with the hardware. I reinstalled them from the website to upgrade to the newest version, but it hasn't solved the problem.

Hi Gary,

Which version of LabVIEW are you using (8.2.1, 8.5) I want to try and replicate your issue in the office.

Hi Gary,

Please can you open Measurement and Automation (MAX) and go to Software >> NI-VISA and tell me what version of VISA you have installed?

Also can you look at the picture and make sure the VISA passport for RIO is enabled.

Hi,

I have version 4.2 of VISA. I checked the passports, and the same boxes are checked as in your picture.

Many thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

Can you create a Blank Project, then right-click My Computer and go to New >> Targets and Devices
Pick existing Target or Device, click on the + next to FPGA Target and pick your device.

Please can you tell me if the device enumerates correctly under My Computer (no yellow warning triangle).

No, I was trying to do that yesterday. There's no "Targets and Devices" option under "New". I only get that option if I right click on the root of the tree (i.e. Project: <projectname>) above My Computer. Thanks.
