Do you have a virus in disk 2 of Aug 08 drivers for Labview ?

Maybe NI PSE's should have a subscription to "these various anitvirus software packages"? Maybe they have a virus within their machine and software produced also contains the "trojan" or virus. I'm not accusing, just suggesting. In todays environment, security is more important than ever before and even if the PSE's aren't "in the world" they need to become highly sensitive to the customers' world.

Or NI could just use this site http://virusscan.jotti.org/ to test files they know might trigger a virus scanner.

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

Hi

I got the same problem trying to install NI device driver Aug. 2009 on my laptop

AVG detects the following "virus"

Trojan horse Generic12.BRCM

in file

NI install root\RT Images\Utilities\BIOS Updater\10.3\7063\flashUpdate.exe

I then tried to reproduce the "error" on my desktop, but there AVG did not detect a virus. Of course I used the latest AVG updates on both machines.

What I noticed was that the path to flashUpdate is different

NI install root\RT Images\Utilities\BIOS Updater\13.1\7046\flashUpdate.exe

The funny thing is that it should be exactly the same version of Labview installed on both machines.

So I took a look inside the BIOS Updater folder and found that on my laptop, there were 3 folders

10.3

10.4

13.1

and on my desktop there is only 13.1

Is it safe to delete these extra folders on my laptop? What are they good for?

Best regards

Simon

Hi SCMAJA,

I'm looking into your question about the BIOS folders.

Hi again,

It is not recommended that you delete the other folders. What is recommended is that you submit a false positive to AVG. They don't like the fact that the file is called a 'flashupdater'...but that's what it is. It flashes certain RT targets.

Almost a year later and AVG reported this file as a trojan.

Scanned today (Sept 26, 2010)

Free AVG 2012 still reports BIOS Updater\10.3\7063\flashupdate.exe as trojan horse Generic12.BRCM.

Hi,

Similar problem was noticed while scanning with AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition 2012. This time, infection was found in NI Device Driver 2012.02 downoladed as dcd_feb12_1.exe

Is it known issue?

Thanks
