Documentation - Print LabVIEW Immediate Hierarchy to HTML

Hello there,

I'm working with a large LabVIEW project and we are going through the motions of documenting the entire code base. I can't currently find a method that only dumps the Immediate Hierarchy (top-level) to HTML - I'm really only looking for the images. Does any one have a solution to this problem?

Also, when considering the our top-level hierarchy - it covers four screen captures. Wouldn't it be better to have a choice in how to display the Immediate Hierarchy? I believe the Immediate Hierarchy lends itself better to a star toplogy rather than a flat veritical or horizontal layout. A tree topology could also be used to show the various immediate level VIs and how they interact with the rest of the hierachy (see attached)

Does the Hierarchy need to be displayed as an HTML file?  You can view the VI Hierarchy by going to View>>VI Hierarchy from LabVIEW.  There are options in the VI Hierarchy viewer to show or hide vi.lib files.  You can also move VIs around on the screen.  From this window you can take screenshots, print to file, etc.  Does this meet the needs of what you are looking for?

No. If you try and move VIs around using the Immediate level hierachy you are restricted.

Howdy,

Since I don’t know what version of LabVIEW you are using, I can’t say for sure. But, If you open your main VI and select File>>Print you can walk through many options on printing your Hierarchy (HTML, JPEG…).

Version 8.2.1 for the record. I'm figuring if you're in AE group and you currently aware of current and future changes to LabVIEW, you'd be able to offer better advice.

Unfortunately, there is not currently a method to display the immediate hierarchy in a star-pattern.

This is an interesting thought and I am sure R&D would consider it as a product suggestion.  In order to submit feedback, click 'Contact NI' from the top left of www.ni.com.  On the lower left corner of the following page, follow the link to the Product Suggestion Center.

Thank you for your contribution, please have a wonderful afternoon!
