Does anyone have any details about Wi-Fi- DAQ?

Hello Everyone,

Does anybody know how to use the Wifi DAQ?? Do I need a wireless network already set up where I should place this wifi DAQ and then use it?

I see the protocol is 802.11 b/g... so, would it require a modem/router  generating a wireless n/w?

Please let me know...

Hi CrackJack,

Yes you will need a wireless network to use WiFi DAQ. You can set up an Ad-Hoc network with a computer that has a wireless card and use the device that way. You don’t necessarily need a modem/router etc. if you use this method. NI.com/gettingstarted is a great resource for questions regarding device setup and use. Check out this page on the wireless DAQ setup and configuration.

About half way down there’s a section that addresses the wireless needs of this device.

I had one more doubt... does the wi-fi DAQ support analog outputs?

Hi CrackJack,

Unfortunately, the AO C-series modules don’t appear to work with the WLS 9163. Take a look at this document which shows some compatibility information.  A compact DAQ chassis will support AO cards, and there is an Ethernet version of that out, NI cDAQ-9188.
