Dear Sir or Madam
I have a USB softing CAN card which works flawlessly in my program in LabVIEW 8.5 and on windows XP. I use the provided DLLs by softing to Interact with the card. But now, I need to run my program on a PC real-time target. I need to know whether the provided drivers and DLLs for windows by softing, can be used on PC real-time target? If not, what should I do?
Thank you

Hi Hosein,
Our Real-Time OS has no basic support for USB devices. In some cases USB Hard Disks are supported, but they're the only ones.
In case you want to run the Real-Time OS on your desktop computer you should use a PCI based CAN board (which you can find here).

Hi peter
Thank you for the information. but I need some more: we have also a 'PCM-CIA CAN card', Do we have the same problem on real-time target with this card? What if we use a PCI extension card for PCM-CIA or USB?
Thank you very much.

Hi Hosein,
Unfortunately the only CAN boards that support the Real-Time OS are the PCI and PXI boards. So if you are using a PCMCIA board, this will not work.
We highly recommend that you do not use bus converters in the Real-Time OS. Even with boards that are supported we cannot guarantee that they will still work using a bus converter.
Best regards,
