ESP300 PR50PP Stepper Motor Controller

I am a new learner of LabView. I learn how to use ESP300 to control PR50PP stepper motor through RS232 serial port. Would anyone can help me? Would you give me some LabView VI program to try?

Dear Meghan,

        You have given me a big help. I thank you a lot. I discover that I need to download CVI, VISA, INI too. I only install the LabView 8.2 that is not enough. Now I have try to configure the Serial Port.
And I have try to use the LabView program to send command ESP 300 that controll the PR50PP stepper motor. If you have any program, I will practise it.

There are some example vi's available from Newport. I took a brief look at them, they are not well written nor documented. Not even sure thay are for Serial communication. You may want to look at them, but they may cause you more confusion than its worth.

Hello BelieverPaul

I am a student in germany having the same problem. I am totally new to Labview and I want to talk to the ESP300 using RS232. I have Labvie 6.1 and 8.5 on my Labcomputer but I cant get the example.vi of NI to work. Can you help me? Have you written a VI I can use to control the ESP? Or do you have a commandlist?

To the ESP I have two UTS50CC connected.

That is a bit problematic since the drivers available from Newport do use the old style GPIB functions and are therefore completely unsuited for usewith RS-232. If those drivers would use VISA instead it would be fairly easy to modify them to support RS-232 too. But unfortunately!!!!
