Embedded Software Engineer

Prolucid Technologies is dedicated to developing leading edge embedded, desktop and cloud based systems. Prolucid is currently seeking anEmbedded Software Engineer responsible for developing software for custom engineering projects as well as new product development.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to be directly involved in the design, development and delivery of projects based on current and leading edge technology.  The majority of our work is new development, including projects ranging from vision and robotics, data acquisition and control, to large distributed systems involving FPGA, real-time control, desktop/tablet’s for interaction and analysis, Big Data, and cloud deployments. Our projects also span many different industries including medical, advanced manufacturing, energy and nuclear.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Participating in the entire software development cycle by analyzing, designing, developing, and testing new products. We are a consulting and contracting firm, most of our work is new code.
  • Contributing to the software process. It is expected that everyone contribute to defining how projects run based on project experience. We’re always looking for creative ways to apply elements of new methodologies constructively to fixed-fee projects.
  • Advocate for the creative application of design patterns and framework development to suit future business needs.
  • Developing solutions using the technology most suited for the task at hand (including using LabVIEW, C/C++, C#, or various web technologies).
  • Participating in requirement gathering efforts with customers and partners, and thoroughly documenting these requirements.
  • Effectively specifying and estimating your development work.
  • Contributing to a sustainable and quality code base by designing reusable software components in 
compliance with standards and industry best practices.
  • Learning new technologies and taking relevant training to expand your skill set and capabilities.

Ideal background & skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Software, Systems, Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years of software design and implementation experience using structured, object-oriented 
principles
  • Experience creating software solutions in a complex, integrated, multi-system environment
  • Previous, real-world experience with some combination of C/C++/C#, .Net, SQL, Java 
  • Experience developing for and configuring multiple OSs (especially Linux and Windows)
  • Experience with a variety of target environments including embedded programming, database 
driven programming, and user interface programming would be an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • The ability and desire to switch between tasks and technologies
  • A demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction
