Error 1322 uninstalling NiDaq 6.8

I am trying to install LabVIEW 7 Express on a PC that already has versions 5.1.1 & 6i installed.  The installation program for 7 Express fails and instructs me to remove NiDaq version 6.8 before trying to install 7 Express again.  The problem is that when I try to uninstall NiDaq 6.8 I get the following error:  "Error 1322. A portion of the folder path " exceeds the length allowed by the system." Now I can't install 7 Express and I can't uninstall 6.8. How do I proceed from here?

Hi,

In most cases, this error seems to be coupled with the uninstallation of LabVIEW 6.  However, I haven't seen any cases where trying to uninstall only NI-DAQ causes this error.  Regardless, there are some troubleshooting steps for this same error detailed in other discussion forums that involve running an attached EXE, as well as editing the registry

Let me know if either of these are able to help you out.  I definitely want to make sure you get up and running.

Have a great day!

I am having a similar problem.

1)  I am trying to install device drivers on a computer with LV 8.2 AND LV 6.  I had the same problem as gdhanson and others,
and receive the message that I should uninstall NIDAQ 6.8, and when I tried to do that, received the
message "Error 1322. A portion of the folder path etc etc"

2)  I followed the threads on previous such discussions, and tried the remedy proposed by Darren Nattinger,
NI Applications Engineer, on a posting dated 7/11/2001.  He suggested modifying a batch file killlv.bat to point
to the executable file mszap.exe, run the batch file, and it would delete all necessary files.

I did this, and now LV 6 has been uninstalled.  It no longer shows up under the programs when I run
    Add/Delete files.

3)  However, the original problem is still there.  When I tried install the device drivers, it STILL says
NIDAQ 6.8 is present and must be removed.  Under Add/Remove programs, however,
there is no LV6 and nothing that lists NIDAQ 6.8 as a component.

4)  Are there any other suggestions?

5)  I think it is unnecessary to call this problem "rare."  It clearly will happen to the valued customers
who are trying to upgrade from LV 6.  It is unfortunate that such a longstanding problem has not
     been addressed.

I also tried the killv.bat file without success.

I finally resolved this issue by doing the following:

- completely uninstallled LabVIEW 6 & 7

- Installed LabVIEW 6 using the custon installation option to prevent Ni-Daq 6.8 from being installed

- Installed LabVIEW 7.1 using the typical installation settings

This process took about a day to complete.  I agree that there should be a better solution from NI to fix this problem.

Hi MSUM,

Please open up a phone or email Service Request with NI Support, and they can provide you with additional measures to resolve this issue.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback on the products and your pains with the upgrade process.  NI definitely thrives on customer feedback such as this in order to continually improve products and the support thereof.

Have a great day!

Dear All,

Though the killlv.bat approach was unsuccessful, "editing the registry," the second option offered
by Travis W.,  did work.  That process, descibed in Travis W.'s link, took only a few minutes. The
method offers a way to delete the NIDAQ6.8 folder from the "registry" and I selected and deleted
the entire NIDAQ  folder.  I then restarted, and then  to installed the device drivers.  This time
everything worked.

I hope this saves someone else some time.

Best wishes.
