Error -2147220324 during base image install on cRIO

Hi everyone

I am trying to install a base image onto a cRIO 9047 over a slow VPN connection. After one minute, the installation process fails with this error:

Error -2147220324 occurred at nisyscfg.lvlib:Install Set.vi:1500001

Possible reason(s):

NI System Configuration: A file transfer error (FTP or WebDAV) occurred.

Local file: c:\program files (x86)\national instruments\rt images\base\17.0\7755\base.tar
Remote file: base.tar

MAX gives the same error. This happens with every base image I try to install. The VPN link works fine and task manager shows an upload speed of 16 MBit/s during the installation.

Since this error consistently occurs after about one minute, I assume this is because of a hard coded timeout.

Is there a way to increase this timeout? Is there another way to "manually" install the base image by e.g. copying it to the cRIO by SCP and installing from command line?

Greetings Cordm,

It has been noticed that these errors usually appear if you try to install software using Windows 8.1 with a third party firewall. Since cRIO is using Ethernet over USB to communicate with your PC, you still need to pay attention to your network settings.

To avoid those problems, make sure that the firewall is disabled or proper exceptions are configured. In some cases it might be necessary to uninstall the firewall.

Since the cRIO-9047 can be connected to your PC via USB, I recommend you to install the Base Image on your cRIO device while connecting it to your PC via USB 🙂

Cheers,

The cRIO is not on my local network, hence the VPN. I gave up and physically went there to log into the cRIOs network. The imaging process then went normally.

I'd still like to do this even over a slow connection. The only thing that's needed is a configurable timeout or a way to start the update on the device with a preloaded image file.

Hi Cordm,

If you want to do it please consider these reasons and then try again.

The third-party firewall (I recommend you to disable it while uploading the image and try again),

File format,

The size of the image ( if it is possible, reduce the image quality, it can be a major factor as your connection is slow).

I wish you good luck 😉
