Error VISA Hex 0xBFFF0011 with USBTMC measurment device

Hello, 

I have an issue with an USBTMC connection to a digital power Meter from YOKOGAWA WT310E and WT333E. The USB port is recognised by the computer which I checked opening the Device Manager, all drivers are installed. Plus, I downloaded all NI-drivers necessary from the webpage and followed the instruction how to install this driver to use it in LabView.When it comes to MAX, the USB plug and play device is not listed under Devices and Interrfaces. The VISA interactive conrol shows the same error: Hex 0xBFFF001 insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present in the system.  

The online support suggested to delete and re-install VISA, which I did (current version is NI-VISA 18.0). Still the error occurs. 

I start to think that there is a problem with the power meter. It is connected to a power source but no data is being measured, so the can not be an output to the USB port. Is this an important factor when it somes to establishing a connetion to NI-VISA? 

I am greatful for any help because I'm quite desperate, since the present VI using measured data from the power meter used to work.

did you try to reset MAX Datebase? It could be a good troubleshooting start point.

Somehow I can't access this website. Nevertheless the problem has solved itself. Is had to do with communication of the yokogawa power meter. When it's not measuring there is no output signal the computer can read, not even a zero. The complete test bench needs to be activated and not the power meter alone.

The problem is not soveld, it just disappeared. My supervisor deleted the YOKOGAWA SubVI from the running VI, so that Labview doesn't ask about this missing connection. There still is no communication via the USB port between the Laptop and the power meters.

No. As I described in the beginning, the connection can be established between the laptop and the powermeters but not between MAX resp. Labview and the Powermeters. They are supposed to be listed automatically in MAX due to the plug-and-play behaviour but that is not the case.

Hi,

Could well be that the USB interface is not VXI compatible.

You can add the USB socket yourself in MAX. I did that once for one of the power analyzers. Cannot recall which one.

Sorry for dragging up this old post but i'm having an identical issue.

I've resset the MAX database, reinstalled visa and updated all the labview package manager bits it said where out of date but it still does not appear on MAX. How do I connect the power meter?

I must admit that the problem had resolved itself. Thanks to a change of the computer and a new setup of LabVIEW on this device the plug-and-play worked out.

This might not apply to your problem ... but I guess the issue is with LabVIEW itself....

Why do you think the problem was with LabVIEW?  You changed two things, hardware and software.  You don't know which of those was the problem.

If it was software, it was more likely a driver install issue or an issue with MAX, and not a LabVIEW issue.  Especially since the problem appeared in MAX which is a level prior to LabVIEW seeing it.
