Error While Installing Labview 2019

When I attempt to install labview through the NI Package manager, I get this message:

"An error occurred while installing a package: ni-msvcrt-2008 (9.1.1.49152-0+f0)

Please check your internet connection and try again."

Note that this happened before I completely deleted all NI software off my computer through regedit. If someone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it as I am at my wits' end with this.

Oh, dear.  If you went into RegEdit and deleted LabVIEW software, the safest (and possibly only) way to recover is to backup your data, wipe the hard drive, and reinstall Windows.  Sadly, been there, made the same mistake, and fixed it by "done that".

As you've probably seen if you've ever done a LabVIEW Install or Uninstall, "it's complicated" and can take quite some time (potentially hours if there are multiple versions or a lot of modules and drivers).  Never attempt to install or uninstall except through using NI's software (or the "Reinstall Everything" method, sometimes the fastest and cleanest method).

I'm confused, why would I have to wipe everything in order to fix an arbitrary error in installing a package? Surely something related to registry entries or windows 10 is blocking this package from installing correctly. Also I could not use NI software to uninstall as I could not find the uninstall program.

A LabVIEW installation will make thousands of changes and entries into the Windows Registry.  LabVIEW un-installation is supposed to undo those changes and remove entries, so that a subsequent re-installation will find a registry sufficiently "intact" that the (very complex) process of LabVIEW installation can proceed.

I've been using LabVIEW for more than a decade, and have easily done several hundred LabVIEW installations (for myself and my colleagues and students).  The one time I messed it up involved attempted to "force-remove" LabVIEW and clean the registry -- the only fix was a rebuild.

Your Milage (and Expertise) may Differ.  You would have been better served to have come here and asked "How do I Safely Remove LabVIEW 2019?".

Bob, I've seen old forum posts on uninstalling labview and they all pointed to an uninstallation application that I can't find anywhere. How do I uninstall at this point? A rebuild is impossible, is there any program that can find and fix the issue? Not really sure why old registry entries would inhibit me from installing it.

Regedit is a registry editor, not something to uninstall or delete software or files and it will not touch any files on disk except the registry itself. Please explain what you did. (It's like saying you used a watermelon to change a sparkplug. Makes no sense.)

For the inexperienced user, editing the registry can do more harm than good.

The error message is quite clear. Obviously, the NI package manager cannot access the internet and there are many possible reasons. Does your company network use corporate firewall or proxy system? Are your name-servers OK? Does your computer have any local policies? Is NIPM allowed to access the network? Did you try again a little later (maybe the server wad down)? Etc.?

The whole reason why I went into the registry editor is because after I went through and deleted the software manually (I couldn't uninstall through windows or NI software), the package manager wouldn't install properly as it was acting like it was already installed (it wasn't).

Also, thank you for finally answering the original question. I'm not sure if something is blocking it from accessing the internet, I'll look into it.

P.S.: I don't appreciate the condescending attitude; I never said I was an IT professional. I did everything I did based off past forum posts from this website. There were multiple posts about a tool that could fix it, but it was later removed.

This happened to me on one of my failed attempts to install LabVIEW 2019.  I (properly) used NIPM to remove all LabVIEW components, and then found out I couldn't uninstall NIPM (it removed itself from the list of things that could be uninstalled).  While on the phone with NI Support, I had the bright idea of reloading NIPM and asking it to install the least amount of LabVIEW 2019 that I could (no drivers, no "extras").  That worked, I then repeated the proper "Remove Everything", and this time, I could use NIPM to remove itself.

So you aren't totally crazy ...

It might also help to search for ni-msvcrt directly. Maybe this information is related. (again a permission issue). Did you try that?

I never said you are or aren't. Maybe next time I add a few more smileys to explain that the information given makes no sense. Read once more what you wrote originally. It is not clear at all what you actually did!

Only in later posts you added more information.
