Error code1073807339

I am using Labview 7.1 and the serial read/write sample example available  for loopback test. But i am gettiing Error code1073807339. I hv read all the posts on this error code but couldnt fix the problem, What could be the possible reason?

If all you are doing is a loopback, then the most likely cause is that you have jumpered the wrong pins together. You connect pin 2 to pin 3. http://www.zytrax.com/tech/layer_1/cables/tech_rs232.htm

   I have connected pin 2 n 3 only. Its too basic thing when u do the RS232 communication, i guess one cant jumper that and obiviously i wont. Well i hv also tried upgrading my NI-VISA to latest4.0 edition  since you have suggested in one of the replies on same question, but that didnt work. I have checked the port settings, device drivers,  I am not really able to figure it out. Any other reasons of this problem?

Do you have handshaking turned on when you configure the serial port? If you do, turn it off. If you don't, I would suggest trying Hyperterminal. With a loopback, whatever you type, will appear as a response. If you get no repsonse, then your serial port may be bad. Is this a built-in serial port or a USB->RS-232?
