Error: the requested feature is unavailable on localhost

Hi, everyone:
I have Labview 7.1 installed in my computer (windows 2000) with my programs working. I need to change my version 7.1 files to 6.1 files in order to convert to an application file because I only have an ver 6.1 application builder. Yesterday I installed Labview 6.1 into my computer, that's where the trouble started. After installation when I tried to open Labview 7.1,  this error message appeared, "The requested feature is unavailable on local host". When I double click my program, Labview 6.1 would start and the error message would say that the file's verison 7.1 is newer than 6.1. Can anybody here help me to solve this problem? When I install Labview 6.1 I did set a new directory for the files.

Thank you in advance.

I can't say what went wrong or how to fix it, but no matter what, you can't save your 7.1 VIs to 6.1 unless you have version 7.0. You can only save to the previous version so that means you can only save from 7.1 to 7.0. Version 7.0 has to be used in order to save back to 6.1.

I cannot comment on the local host error message, but you will need to open 7.1 and do a save for previous to save your VIs to 7.0, then find someone with LV 7.0 and have them save the VIs to 6.1.

If you don't have the money to buy the app builder for LV 7.1, which can't be purchased anymore. Ask NI if they can provide a LV 7.0 version, since you already have a 7.1 license there's a good chance they will comply.

You will have to uninstall 6.1 and 7.1, then re-install 6.1 and app builder and after that 7.1.

Thanks everyone. Just talked with a NI guy, he said NI will not provide Labview 7.0.

If you post your code here, someone may be able to do the conversion for you.
