Error when trying to install executable generated by Labview

I created an executable from Labview 2009.  I also created an installer to install it.  When my client attempts to install it, he is getting an error message that says he needs LabView 2009????

Any clue what is going on here and how to fix it?

Thanks

Does it happen during the install or after and when they try to run the program. Did you have any problems when you tested the installer? Please don't say you did not bother to test the installer before shipping it off.

The error occurs when they first attempt to install the software.  So they have not progressed passed that point.

No I did not test it out.  That would require finding a machine without LabView installed to find that out.  In addition, the installer is about 100 MB (a very disappointing feature for a product that costs so much).  You are correct, it would be best to test it out, but we were way over our time budget getting this to work in the first place.  I figured compiling an executable and creating an installer should just work - given the price of the Labview product.  I have used a similar product for compiling and creating installers from java code and it never failed to produce a working product.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Without seeing your project and what you selected for the installer options, it's kind of hard to say. Most of the time, the installer process is very smooth. Having the entire message displayed might help.

p.s. You really don't have to find a system without LabVIEW to test your installer. Testing the exe is best done on a fresh machine.

I did test the .exe file and it worked.  I did not test the installer package because I don't have a computer that does not allready have the 100 MB + stuff that Labview needs to run an application.  It is the installer created by Labview that is not working.

I have created installer packages for different applications in the past year (earlier version 8.6).  This is a real bummer that nobody has a clue what could be happening with this.

Dear Sir,

What you can try now is to use the respective installers needed individually and install it manually and not use the installer that labview packed for you. Labview 9.0 runtime engine, any other labview module engines and third party dll can be downloaded and install on your client computer. You can try that see it can solve your problems.

Thanks for that reply calibur, but I can't understand what you are saying.  If I don't understand, my client definitely won't understand.

I completely removed all National Instruments software from a computer here in the office, and I ran the setup program.  My client was correct.  I immediately get a window the says:

"You must install LabVIEW 2009 or later on the system before you can run this setup"

The installer is supposed to do this!  That's one of the options you select in the process.  How can I fix this problem???   ANYONE???????????

You require either the lv development or a runtime engine to run the program. Have you got any of this in the system that you are testing?

As I mentioned, provide the project so someone can see what you did.

You didn't do something silly like check the 'Require the LabVIEW 2009 ....' box on the Advanced page did you?

Hi barney,

It would be very helpful if you could post a screenshot of the error you are seeing.

It sounds to me like the Runtime hasn't installed correctly or something.
