Error while selecting VI in Desktop Execution Node

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello Roel,

Additional information.

I've created new project from FPGA template project with PXI target and FPGA target, have added pair of my problem FPGA VIs and then tried to configure Desktop Execution Node in new project. There was not any problems, DEN was configured correctly (see attachment). So, the problem is in my main big project, probably.

Hello kostyuk.a,

Thanks for the information. It sounds like maybe something in your file was just corrupt. Does your DEN seem to be working correctly overalll now?

Hi, Roel!

Sorry for late answer, was preparing for CLD exam.

DEN works correctly for any new projects i've created for test, but still there is the error in my main project.

If some files are corrupted, what kind og information could help you to make recommendations how to fix it?

Best regards,

Andrey Kostyuk

Hi Andrey,

Good luck on your exam, if you haven't taken it yet. It could just be that the project file itself is causing some corruption; one thing to try would be to move all of your files and VIs to a new project. Basicially, just create a new project, and add your files to it. If this one is still not working with DEN, then maybe there is a specific VI. You could try creating new projects, and in each project just have one VI. Then, see if DEN works. If a specific project fails, then you will know which VI is causing the problem. I hope that made sense.  Best of luck!

what can i do otherwise to solve it?

I would get the same error message about the variant data type whenever I I tried to use the DEN in LV2014 when I had a CLIP IO added to my FPGA vi. If you have the same thing then you'll need to upgrade to LV2015 since there was a bug that prevented the DEN from working with any FPGA VI that had a CLIP in it. For example, a FlexRIO Adapter Module uses a socketed CLIP to access its IO from the FPGA so if you have a FAM added to your FlexRIO target then the DEN wouldn't work.

I am having the exact problem described in this series of letters using LV2016, 32 bit.

I get the 1055 error when I try to configure the DEN, and the configure window then no longer responds to button clicks.  I do have IP for a Flex RIO in the project.  I was loathe to build a new project because I have numerous registers and memory blocks that I would need to rebuild by hand, I think.

However, I just noticed that I didn't have the problem when I tried grabbing a different VI in the project, and the difference was that this other VI wasn't in a library.  When I pulled my main VI out of its library, I was able to configure the DEN to it.
