EtherCAT 9144 not detected using LabVIEW 2012SP1F2

Greetings,

I upgraded my development environment from LV2011SP1F2 to LV2012SP1F2 and now cannot detect a 9144 EtherCAT Master.  I believe all the correct software is installed on the cRIO, namely NI-RIO 12.1 and NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT 2.5.0:

The up-compiled LV2011 project displays the following error in LV2012:

Even if I start a new project from scratch I cannot detect or add the 9144 EtherCAT chassis.

I've ensured that all my LV2012 software modules are legitimately licensed as well (i.e. LabVIEW Proffesional Development Environment, LabVIEW RT, LabVIEW FPGA)

Thoughts? Troubleshooting suggestions?  Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

You need to repair or upgrade the ethercat drivers on your computer.

Hi Jesse,

I tried your suggestion to repair the NI EtherCAT installation but it did not help.  After repairing the Windows installation I then removed and reinstalled all required software on the cRIO.

Since I'm using the latest driver, EtherCAT 2.5.0, I have no ability to upgrade.  Any other suggestions?

Hi Steve,

I'm sorry to hear that. As some background issue on what you are seeing the labview project uses the project provider framework to add features to the project. Somehow the ethercat plugin was messed up when you upgraded. What you are seeing most likely has nothing to do with what is on the cRIO and is an issue with your labview installation. However, I have the same setup on my computer and it works - so the setup isn't incompatible. There likely is just a one off case that happened when you upgraded.

I know it is no fun, but as steps forward:

1) Restart labview if you haven't

2) repair labview.

3) remove and re-install the ethercat driver from your computer.

AE, if you are monitoring this forum can you make sure no one else has had this issue?

Also you might open the ethercat examples from the example finder.
