Execution help

I'd like to know if it's possible to execute a VI in a
computer without LabVIEW, I know about application builder,
but that's not a solution for me. Can I have a kind of
program to make my VI work in a computer where I haven't
installed LabVIEW (and can't install it).

Hi Gorka,

a "LabVIEW virtual machine" or something similar will be needed in any case,
even though you don't want (or aren't allowed because of license
restrictions) to install LV itself. But a solution for this seems to be
close at hand:
Just take a look at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/87392D1CB3C49DDE86256AE30049CE55?OpenDocument; the "LabVIEW
Player" will be this virtual machine - announced to be available for
download free of charge(!) in September!

Well, that's good, if you can afford buying LabVIEW 6i...
and I'm not able to upgrade my 5.0.1 to 5.1 so... What will
happen with "my" LabVIEW? If now I've problems because all
VIs are in 5.1 version, what will I do when all are 6i?

Hmm. What's the catch? This essentially renders their money-making
application builder redundant, and hence loses sales of a product. Are NI
hoping that the resultant possible increase in the use of Labview VIs will
sell more development systems, covering the loss? Or is the product going to
be more restricted in what will run under it?

Hi Craig,

with a little insider information (or assumption...?!? ;-), I can tell you
that NI are not earning the biggest part of their bucks with software sales,
so they can easily cope with this "loss"...
