Hello everyone,
I had a fellow engineer in my lab ask me if it is possible to pull image data in to labview with the hardware that i have. I have a cdaq 9172 with a ni 9215 AI module. He gave me a pc to tv converter (http://sewelldirect.com/pc-to-tv.asp). All i want to do right now is read in data that would be fed in via VGA in from an external source. This data would be from a microscope of some kind. I have not used labview for any imaging applications yet so i would appreciate any light you can shed on the situation.
Thanks,
D

Hello Lockesmith,
Unfortunately, you cannot retrieve image data with the hardware that you currently have. You will need something like a PCI 1405 that will take that kind of data. As far as LabVIEW, you can definitely work with image data. In fact there are modules that will allow you to do image processing for your application.
I am sorry to be the bearer of the news regarding your hardware. It is just that a cDAQ analog input device cannot be used to handle image data. I hope this answers your questions. If that is not the case let us know so that we can help you with your application.
Have a great day!
