FTP password not working on cRio

Solved!
Go to solution

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Set this up before with cRio 3.1.1 and LV 8.6.1 without problem.  Now I'm running cRio 3.2.1, with Ethercat 1.1, and LV 2009f1.  Max 4.6.1, I think.

I've got a 9074 and 9144 connected and running my VI properly.  I went into MAX, right clicked, and selected Lock, and then typed in the password.  The settings were then locked out of MAX, which looked correct, but the FTP server is not password protected.  I can still just type the IP address of the machine and browse the file contents.

What have I forgotten to do?

After setting the password, did you restart the cRIO and open a new Explorer Window an try to ftp it again?

Yes, I restarted it, and it still didn't work.  In fact, I rebooted the controller again just to make sure.

It works as expected here on my system with LV2009 too. So when locking the RT Target in MAX, the configuration page is locked as well as the ftp server.

Right now I don't know why you are still able to connect via ftp without typing a password, let me think about it...

I think I figured out what was going on.   Somewhere, my password is cached in Explorer for the ftp site.  I can't seem to find how to clear that cache out (doesn't appear to be the same as IE).  Anyway, I changed the password, and it now requests login information for the ftp site.

Thanks for checking into this.

Ok. I thought you where using Windows Explorer (the file browser) not IE or another Internet-Browser, because of that I asked if you reopend the Explorer Window.

Anyhow, great that it works now.

You are correct.  I am using Windows Explorer.  I am not using IE to ftp to the device.
