Facing an issue with installing an IVI driver in my labview

Hello everyone!

I am trying to integrate my kikusui PLZ1205W load bank with labview(2021). IVI instrument driver for the particular model is not available in the NI Instrument driver finder. I have downloaded IVI driver PLZ-5W from Kikusui website, seems importing drivers for labview2021 is not available. Please guide me if there is any possibility to install this particular driver for my labview setup.Thanks

Hello,

You can use the Kikusui PLZ-5W IVI driver in LabVIEW 2021 by manually copying the driver folder to LabVIEW’s instr.lib directory. This enables the driver to appear in the Instrument I/O palette for use in your VIs.

1. Download and Extract the Driver

Download the IVI driver (PLZ-5W) from the Kikusui website.
If the download is a ZIP file, extract it. If it’s an installer, run it.

2. Locate the Driver Files

After installation or extraction, the driver folder is usually found at:
- C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\VISA\my_driver\
  (where my_driver is the name of the driver, e.g., PLZ-5W)
If you only have a folder (not an installer), use that folder directly.

3. Copy Driver to LabVIEW instr.lib

Exit LabVIEW if it’s running.
Copy the entire driver folder to:
- C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2021\instr.lib\
You may need administrator rights to do this.

4. Rename the Folder (Optional)

Rename the folder to the name you want to appear in LabVIEW’s palette (e.g., PLZ-5W).

5. Restart LabVIEW

Open LabVIEW 2021.
Go to the block diagram, right-click, and navigate to:
- Functions > All Functions > Instrument I/O > Instrument Drivers
The driver should now appear in the palette.

6. Verify and Use

Open a new VI and drop the VIs from the driver palette.
If you don’t see the driver, check that the folder contains .mnu files and a .llb or .lvlib file.
