Failed to Open File

I have about 8 saved VI programs that I am working on. I tried opening them this morning but all of them came up with a message that said that they were not VIs and I could not open them using LabView. I checked this, and looked at their properties, and found that all of them were indeed VIs and said that LabView should be the program inwhcih they should run. I do not know what happened. Does anybody know what to do?

Thanks for any help,
Joe87

Hi Joe

I think you wont like my answer and I hope you get another.

I have this problem once in a while. If this problem occurs, our corporate IT has to restore the last backup-copy they make from my network-drive.

So if you don't have any backups, I think you will have to make them again.

Have you tried opening LV and then opening the VIs from the file menu? Also I am very suspicious that all 8 files "went bad" at exactly the same time. I'm afraid something is going on in your system and it's not good. Do you have GOOD antivirus software, and are you sure that it's up to date? Try a system scan to see if it comes up with anything. Can you copy any of the VIs to a different machine and run them from there. Finally, what OS and version of LV are you running? And do you have more than one version of LV on your computer?

BTW: Thumb drives are wonderful things for doing daily backups on to.

Let us know what you find out.
