Fieldpoint I/O Latch Problem

It's unlikely, but could the problem be in the bulbs?  If your ouput power is just barely on their luminescence threshhold, any quivers caused by the control might make them flicker.  I'm running out of ideas here, so if it seems like I'm grasping at straws, it's because I am. Smiley Wink

lol you and me both.

the supply is 5A, 22-28 Adjustable VDC.

The lamps at full load would draw about 4 amps at 24VDC. (Thats 12 on all at once)
The most that can be on at once are 4....so were talking very little strain on the supply.
Hardware wise- this setup has been running just fine for about a year now.

The only 3 things that have changed:
1) LV 7.1 to 8.5 Upgrade
2) Big while loop controlling 12 lights in parallel, to 1 at a time going through the series.
3) Serial communications to ethernet

I'm about to say theyre going to have to deal with a blinking set of lights, its only every few seconds anyhow. Problem is...these aren't LEDs were driving....they are incandescents that by nature don't like going on and off, especially quickly! over long periods of time!

Its safe to say I'm lost on this one lol.

You definitely should have enough power, and the status lights on the FP hardware are after the ethernet, so that's probably not it.  Might just be a tiny hardware error.

At this point I'd say look into LED bulbs Smiley Very Happy

LOL

You know I did...
$6.00 for industrial control incandescents
$63.00 per 24V LED control bulb (Thats like 40$ under list too from our suppliers)

There's only 12 bulbs now that would need em...by the end of this year, this project is going to be expanded and will need to control 84 of them!  Thats $5300 of bulbs! My boss would flip out lol.

Have you tried duplicating the VI you created in 8.5 in 7.1?  I doubt the developement environment is the cause of the problemm but this test would rule it out.

I just tried changing slots where the 403 is seeded...

The blinking stops, and when replacing it to the first slot, using the same program we blink. (both with load attached)

Looks like its probably hardware, we spent so much time looking through the software.  I guess the business model is the user is where the problem lies...never the hardware 😛
