Can't say I agree with either claim, but I never actually showed those paths. It seems to me that it requires your project window to be very wide and that because it's not sorted you would have to open everything and scroll over everything to see linking issues. It looks to me like it's much easier to see the paths in the Files tab, because there you only have to drill down as far as you want. As soon as you satisfied yourself that everything comes from the right place you don't need to look anymore. But again, this is a matter of preference.

 

As for auto populating folders, I wouldn't recommend them, but there are relatively rare cases where I do use them and want them in the project (for example, if I want to have plugins included in an EXE).
