Finding Experienced Labview Programmers

Hi Paul,

Partha was trying to point out the search box above every thread. Type in keywords and click Go. I tried "wav lv" and got several great threads. The first one was very helpful:

Not to mention the search box that's at the top of every page. That search will also include results from the Knowledge Base, Examples, Tutorials, etc, but the search results can then be filtered.

Being a college student myself, I would say it is just not implimented enough in the college environment. The only reason I use it is because I have an on campus job, and I have had to teach myself everything I know. However, it got me a job when I graduate. I know at Purdue, Labview is not touched in Computer Science. Some EE, and ME's may use it but just for labs, they don't really learn how to use it. They just follow instructions laid out basically explaining exactly how to code what they need. They don't actually need to figure anything out. I really believe the lack of Labview use at the university level is the cause for this, but it really does stand out on a resume and is worth learning!

One last thing, when I interviewed for jobs the straight up told me you can't make much of a career out of Labview. I think thats why experienced programmers are harder to be found.  In order to move up, you have to have more of a background in order to be promoted, move up, etc.(i.e. make more money)! This means knowing other languages such and C, C++ blah blah yadda yadda.

I'm not sure what you mean. LabVIEW has been a career for some of the fellows that I've had as contractors here. That is most of what they do: Implement test systems using LabVIEW and other NI software.

I knew C and then C++ before I started this position and was trained in LabVIEW development at a previous employer but I also came from an IT background. I work for a place that has mostly electrical engineers at an aerospace outfit. I really think there is room for both. Every employer wants flexibility. If you learn more they may throw more work your way and not stick you in some pidgeon hole as "that LabVIEW guy". I use Measurment Studio and LabVIEW together. What is hard in one environment is often easy in another.

Hi there guys

I have my program which is supposed to record audio from microphone and save it as a .wav file in a folder but its not quite doing it right. If anyone got some spare time to check out my program and see if there are any obvious mistakes i should fix, that would be greatly appreciated.

I would start a new thread. This is an old existing one that not many ppl will look at probably and your subject is completely different from this one.
