I have some spare time to fiddle with my project and I'd like to change the overall color scheme of my front panels to make them feel a little less bland. The default colors work well together, but I would like something a little more interesting than 50 shades of gray. Does anyone have some suggestions or examples of projects they've worked on?

Just do a search for "UI color design" or "color scheme generator", etc. There are tons of color wheels and things online to help with this.
I've also had good luck with some of the control suites available on VI Package Manager. For example, the "Springgreen Flat UI Control Suite" with a black VI background makes a pretty good looking UI.

I've never used the VI Package Manager before, thanks for the info! I started using the Flat UI Control Suite and it looks really good. I'll probably end up using it for my whole project.

I found a really helpful article on colors in UI design, anyone looking to customize colors on their front panel should give it a read: Color In UI Design: A Practical Framework
I also found this website with a bunch of neat flat UI colors: Flat UI Colors
