G web server as a W2k service

Hello All

I am having some problems with setting G web server as service on Windows 2000.
Did anybody try it before? Does it work stable and fast etc.

Thanks a lot in advance

I have done this before. What particular problems are you having? The main thing to be aware of is that you always have to have LabVIEW running for the web server to be active. If your machine restarts, you have to restart LabVIEW. You can obviously set Windows to do that automatically, but it's something to be aware of.

Also, make sure that no other applications are trying to use port 80. I've run into that problem before. You can download port scanners off the web that show you what ports are being used and by what applications. If you're having specific trouble, let us know and hopefully we can help you solve it.

Hi WireWorker

I think I did not explain it carefully, I ment I want G web server as a W2k service, which means that it will be an exe file, which is started and stopped by windows, when it starts or stops.

I want to build the G web server into executable together with my vi and use this as a W2k service. So I do not need LabVIEW to be restarted.

Did you try to do that?
Thanks

Oh, I see. Fortunately, you can do this. I'm attaching a zip file with documents which describe how to do this. I found it on NI's website a while back. It gives instructions and an example of how to do what you're asking. Hope this helps!
