Generating an HTML report from two tabs.

Hi Guys, and sorry if the title is not clear. Smiley Sad

My situation is like this: I have two tabs for two different conditions. In the first tab, I want generate part of my HTML report regarding the first tab. Then, in the second tab, I want add more details to my previous HTML report. Can this be done in LabVIEW 8.0? I appreciate any advice.

cheers and thanks!

Hello,

In attach I've made a simple example to give you some ideas for doing what you want.

I hope this is helpfull for you.

Mike,

I think the key here is going to be the "Append Report Text" VI as shown in the example posted above. However the code is architected, the important part will be to use the same HTML report reference along with this VI to add information to your report. Please post back if we can provide any further assistance. Thanks,

Hi,

Heres another small "issue" we face when working with MS-Word report generation where the data is coming from multiple pages on a tab control.

We create large reports which include .png image of various graphs/charts lying across many pages of a tab control. The report generation button could be on any one of these pages. We found that if the user has not visited a given page (i.e. displayed its contents) then the graphs coming in from that page are blank. If the user visits the page and then clicks the report generation button, the graphs come as shown on the screen.

Our present workaround is  - for every graph on the tab control place a second graph outside the tab but such that it is never in the area visible to the user (scrolls are disabled). The report generation code uses .png coming from these "not visible to user" graphs.

Is there a better workaround?

Hello Gurdas,

I have not previously encountered this behavior when using the report generation toolkit to append images to a Word report. Can I assume that you are using the "Append Control Image to Report VI" to add these images to the Word report? With this VI you wire in a reference to each of the controls for which you are trying to export the image. I ask because I was able to successfully export images for graphs that I had not yet viewed on a tab control. Also, which version of LabVIEW are you using that you experience this difficulty?

One thing to consider may be execution order; when does data get written to graphs on each tab? Are you sure that an image append operation can never take place before data exists on a graph? If you have a small example VI that shows this behavior, that might help me to identify an easier workaround for you. I hope this information is useful for you. Thanks,

Hello Mike,

I will try build a sample vi and post it here. Give me a few days as I have my hands full right now.

I am using LV 7.1 and RGT 1.0.1 (Oct 2000). You are right about using the "Append Control Image to Report VI" to add the images to the Word report.
