Generating output signals

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi everyone,

Here's a very basic question. When hitting the run-button in labview, does it automatically transmit the signal from the hardware - or do I have to do something in order to get out of the simulation mode?

I'm using a BNC-2120 along with a NI PXIe-1073 and NI PXIe-6368. In labview, a square wave from the simulate-signal-block is sent to the DAQ Assistant. I've connected an oscilliscope to the analog output but all I get is noise.

Thank you in advance from a labview novice.

/Patrik

Yes, running the program will output the signals you have configured, so something is wrong. Can you explain how things are connected and configured? Is the "noise" centered around zero or offset? What's the frequency of the square wave? Are you generating continuously or just for a brief time? Can you show us your code?

I found the problem. The analog output "AO-0" on the hardware was not corresponding to "AO-0" for the DAQ-mx in the software, but was actually corresponding to "AO-2". I've run into another problem but I will create a new subject for it. Thank you!
