Generating sound effects

I am making a robot for a summer VBS program and want to include a sound recorder to record kids voices and play them back with various "cool" robot effects added.  Has anyone done anything with modifying waveform data to add interesting sound effects that they would like to share?  I am thinking of robot voices, delay/echo, flange, etc.  Any cool sound transformation code would be awsome!  Think kids, fun, and goofyness!

I haven't personally played around with this, but I would start with the sound input to file and sound file to output example programs.  You can play around with filtering from the signal conditioning palette to change the playback in between.
